Updated National Health and Safety Guidelines for Early Care and Education ProgramsThe American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Public Health Association (APHA), and the National Resource Center for Health and Safety in Child Care and Early Education (NRC) recently released the 3rd edition of Caring for Our Children: National Health and Safety Performance Standards; Guidelines for Early Care and Education Programs (updated as of January 2012). These national standards provide the most current information on quality health and safety practices and policies that should be followed in early care and education settings. Chapter 8 is dedicated to children with special health care needs and disabilities.

Partners in Policymaking®: A Leadership Training Program
Partners in Policymaking® is a leadership training program designed for parents of young children with developmental disabilities and adults with disabilities. The program teaches leadership skills, and the process of developing positive partnerships with elected officials and others who make policy decisions about services used by you and your family. Registration is Now Open for the 9th Annual CICC Inclusion Institute!
The Center for Inclusive Child Care is now accepting registrations for the 9th Annual Inclusion Institute: Together We Can! Promote Quality Inclusion. Due to construction, this year’s conference will take place at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie, MN. Six in-service hours, one CEU, and/or one college credit will be available for attending the conference. More information and registration materials can be accessed on the CICC website Annual Conference page. Sessions this year cover a variety of topics that promote quality inclusion like: Language Development: What to Expect and When to Help; Asthma, Allergies, and Anaphylaxis: Supporting Children with Special Health Needs; and Autism Spectrum Disorders, 101. Many of the conference sessions meet Parent Aware training requirements. There are a limited number of scholarships available for child care providers and parents (other requirements apply).
