Consultation Services Available to Early Childhood and School Age Care and Education Professionals

By Dea Anderson, CICC Consultation Coordinator

The Center for Inclusive Child Care (CICC) offers child care consultation and support services to child care and school age providers throughout Minnesota. The goal of these services is to help providers successfully include and keep children with special needs and those with challenging behaviors in their childcare programs. These services are currently available at no cost to parents and providers.

Working with young children and their families is an awesome task and responsibility. As many of us know that have worked with children and their families for many years, every now and then we encounter a situation with a child or family in which we could benefit from some additional information, advice or just someone else’s objective observations and ideas.

As defined in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, to consult with someone is to ask for advice, ideas, strategies, and information. A consultant is someone who listens, observes, and wonders with you about possible ways to enhance your program and meet the needs of the children and families that you serve.

CICC Consultants are individuals who have knowledge, experience, and expertise in a variety of areas including early childhood, early childhood special education, and school age care.

If you are interested in learning more about these consultation services and/or finding a consultant in your area please contact Dea Anderson at 612-767-5159 or at www.inclusivechildcare.org.

We are also looking for experienced individuals who are interested in providing consultation services in their area. Please contact Dea Anderson at 612-767-5159 or at dea@fraser.org for more information.
